Gothic Arches - Black, white and a hint of red

Ok, I really like to look at black and white combinations but I am so bad at creatig them - To me my pieces always look too naked *sigh* So I decided to make a miniature gothic arch for this challenge. Just some time ago I finished John Irving's "Until I find you"... so now you know where the inspiration came from *lol* Not quite as thrilling as some of his other novels but still worth reading...

Arty Girlz - Shapes

This is my entry for this weeks challenge at Arty Girlz. The theme is add shapes to your creation.

Back to painting

For over two years I have been absolutley unable to paint - so I just kind of stuck to the mixed media - stamping thing. I drives me crazy not beeing able to create...

But two days ago I read a post on Pilar Pollocks blog and it encouraged me to start painting again - and mostly it encouraged me not to be so hard on myself ;))

This is the first paintig, it's 70 x 50cm. There are three more in progress... Thank you Pilar for helping me untie that knot!

Arty Girlz - No patterned paper

When I make backgrounds without patterned paper I usually use Distress Inks. I love the color palette and how the inks blend so well using just a sponge to apply. This is my card for this weeks challenge

(someday I'll find out how to get things into the scanner straight... *sigh*) :))

Hermine's Background

This is for a challenge at Hermines Place She made this beautiful background to download and create something... I have to tell you - this was a tough one! After adhering the backgound to my card it already looked finished :)) It's so beautiful! It took me a while to figure out what to add...

One thing that has been on my mind for quite some time is how the people on those cute vintage pictures would feel if they could see the artwork done with their pictures now.... surley they must be very very very old or they just missed it... What would they think about party hats,butterfly wings ect.? Some might be delighted others might just say: Why me? :))

This week on Tgif the theme is earth colors. I used an image off a collage sheet by Lisa's Altered Art - take a look at the wonderful images. The quote on this ATC is the first thing that came to my mind seeing the faces of these little ones :))

Arty Girlz want to see vintage this week. This is my entry. It's not really visible on the screen, but some details are highlighted with Perfect Pearls. And I used real vintage mother-of-pearl buttons and some very old lace.

Layers of color

This weeks theme on Layers of Color is Children. This is my first time participating - I couldn't resist for this is one of my favourite themes :))

And this is my entry - The quote is in german and translated it would be something like:

There are three things that remained from paradise: the stars of the night, the flowers of day and children's eyes.

It's actually a color I like very much - I just don't seem to use it too often. Somehow it looks more like a shade of green on the screen, but I'd say it's turquoise in daylight... ;)

Mixed Media Monday - monochromatic colours

For a long time I haven't been able to participate in challenges. I'm very happy I finally made it :)) This is my piece for the monochromatic colours challenge.

Rose and green :)) A bit too sweet and "flowery" in the end but I still kind of like it.

Song of childhood

This is another piece that is pretty big compared to the things I usually make. The picture is lousy, aaaarrrrrrgggghhhh! This one is gone too, so no chance for a better one...

Niblo's Garden

Now I'm going huge! I love this piece but it was quite a struggle because of its size - it's hard to make it look interesting and at the same time not overloading. The box with the boys is an empty cigar box - so you can imagine the size of the entire thing. The very first piece I acctually sold :))

I'm back!

We finally moved into our new "old" house! There is still alot to fix and "rebuild" but I just cannot do without a little artwork ;) So I started off with something very little because everything was still crowded with boxes and bags.

Wednesday Stamper - Keys

This was alot of fun to make - although very messy... ;) I painted a piece of glass with acrylic colors and scratched away some parts after it was dry. The pictures are glued to the back side (I used some of Rein's freebies - THANK YOU!) Then I stamped the glass with StazOn and used some Distress Embossing Powder for the edges. Stamp by Nara Studio.

Mixed Media Monday - Time

Here is my first entry for the mixed media monday challenge. It's already wednesday - ;) I had a hard time with this one because it is HUGE (compared to the things I usually work on...) It used to be a cabinet door. It's very old so I thought it would be perfect for the theme "time" The old lock is still in it's place... makes me wonder what secrets it once contained...
